About Baby Delight®
Baby Delight was founded in 2000 by Farah Morton, a mom who realized that the bassinet was preventing the closeness she desired with her newborn daughter. Knowing the dangers associated with co-sleeping, Farah started experimenting with ways to create a safe area on her own bed that would protect her newborn and allow the closeness she wanted for those first three precious months. With her second baby, Farah refined her ideas into a simple, innovative, and safe product design, and the Snuggle Nest was born! The Snuggle Nest, a protective co-sleeping bed, was an immediate success since there was no other solution for co-sleeping parents on the market, other than bedside bassinets.
Shortly after its debut, the Snuggle Nest was awarded the IParenting Media award and the Hot Product award, as well as the National Parenting Center award. The CBS Morning News interviewed Farah about her innovative co-sleeping bed, and news stations from coast-to-coast featured the Snuggle Nest, demonstrating how this safe and simple product was meeting a real need for today's parents. Dr. Harvey Karp, noted pediatrician and author of The Happiest Baby on the Block, has acknowledged the usefulness of the Snuggle Nest and features it in his training methods for The Happiest Baby Educators. The national exposure of this mom-designed product, as well as word-of-mouth from many satisfied parents, has helped place it on many moms-to-be wish lists and it is now a bestselling baby product!
More recently, Baby Delight has grown to incorporate new products that are "delighting" both parents and moms-to-be by offering easy solutions, comfort, and convenience. By staying in touch with moms, dads, and babies, we continue to seek simple design solutions in response to difficult parenting dilemmas.
Baby Delight products can now be found nationwide in the United States and in several foreign countries as well.
Our Thoughts on Co-Sleeping
At Baby Delight, we realize that parents ultimately make their own parenting decisions based on individual desires, cultural background, child-rearing philosophies, and simple convenience. While we neither encourage nor discourage the practice of co-sleeping, we appreciate the opportunity to offer a safe alternative for those moms and dads who choose to bring their infant into their bed. We also highly value the recommendations of First Candle / SIDS Alliance and strive to incorporate their guidelines into all of our sleeping products.
Please consider the following guidelines for safer co-sleeping with or without the Snuggle Nest:
- Never allow infants to co-sleep with another toddler or child.
- Never allow infants to co-sleep with an adult who is under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Never allow infants to co-sleep with someone who is obese.
- Never allow infants to co-sleep with an adult who suffers from sleep disorders or someone who sleeps too soundly to awake at an infant's distress.
- Never co-sleep on couches or waterbeds or excessively soft mattresses.
- Never allow infants to co-sleep on the sides of the bed-always place infant in the center of the bed.
- Do not use excessive bedding or pillows while co-sleeping.
- Do not leave an infant unattended on an adult bed.
- Do not place stuffed animals in the adult bed with a bed-sharing infant.
- Consider the use of a pacifier for the first six months, as this has been shown to reduce the incidence of SIDS.
